CarbonCuts pioneers onshore CO₂ storage for a greener tomorrow

CarbonCuts is a Danish company founded in 2022, dedicated to creating a greener future. With support from our owner, BlueNord, and in close collaboration with partners and experts, we develop climate solutions with maximum impact. Our ambition is to establish an onshore CO₂ storage site on South Lolland with an annual storage capacity of up to 1.5 million tons of CO₂.

In June 2024, we were granted an exploration license by the Danish Minister for Climate, Energy, and Utilities and the Danish Energy Agency. Over the next 2-3 years, through Project Ruby, we will explore the South Lolland subsurface to determine whether our ambition can be realized. We are currently planning the initial investigations, including subsurface studies via an old oil well from the 1950s (the Rødby-2 well) located near Rødby. In early 2025, we will also conduct one of Denmark’s largest 3D seismic surveys of the area.
