Local engagement
– a strategic priority

“Bringing sustainable innovation to a community is about more than technology – it’s about transparency, dialogue, and local involvement. That’s why we actively engage with communities, keeping everyone informed, and listening to all questions, concerns, and ideas. Together we can crate a positive impact on the climate and local green growth”

Community engagement – a strategic priority

Citizen engagement is crucial for the development of onshore CO₂ storage. As pioneers in a new industry, we know that success depends on more than technology and expertise – it also requires openness, dialog and local support. To create climate solutions that both address the climate crisis and benefit local communities, trust and engagement are essential.

In the investigation phase, we primarily analyze the suitability of the subsurface for CO₂ storage. Much of this work is not visible, which is why the need for knowledge sharing and transparency is particularly important. We work hard to create understanding and confidence in the technologies, our investigations and the way we work. At the same time, we strive to minimize disturbance to nature and neighbors.

Engagement is not only about informing, but very much about listening. We engage with citizens, answer questions and adapt our work where possible to take the community into account. Through public meetings, digital and printed materials, newsletters, films, consent processes and direct dialog, we work towards an open and constructive process.

As pioneers, we want to lead the way – not only with technology and expertise, but also in the way we engage with the local community and involve citizens and the surrounding society. It’s an ongoing and dynamic effort. We are always open to new approaches that can strengthen the dialog. Our goal is for carbon storage to become not just a technical necessity, but a solution that creates real value for both the climate and local communities.
